DepEd to parents: Pre-register learners to avoid long lines

MANILA – The Department of Education (DepEd) urged parents on Tuesday to pre-register their incoming Kinder, Grade 1, Grade 7, and Grade 11 children as early as now to avoid the usual crowds during the actual enrollment period.
In a virtual press conference, Education Secretary Leonor Briones called on parents and guardians to have their children’s names registered for them to efficiently plan the blended learning setup next school year.
“We are calling for more and more participants na sana ang mga parents, i-enroll na nila ang kanilang mga bata para ma-avoid ang ([we] hope that parents would enroll their children to avoid) usual crowds and usual long lines, during the official enrollment time,” she said.
Briones noted they are anticipating a higher enrollment turnout in the upcoming school year.
To date, 1,805,620 learners are now listed in the early registry, reaching almost 25 percent of the DepEd’s target registrants of over 7.35 million. Early registration for the entry-level learners is scheduled from March 25 to April 31.
DepEd Director Roger Masapol said they are eyeing to reach 28,674,298 million Kinder to Grade 12 (K-12) enrollees for the next school year, both from public and private schools.
Masapol added that the country has now surpassed pre-pandemic figures.
“Na-surpass na natin ‘yung level ng 2019, ‘yung level ng 2018, and then naka-recover na tayo sa 2020 na 26.2 lang, at na-reover natin dito sa kasalukuyan, kung idadagdag natin ‘yung ALS (Alternative Learning System) ay nasa 28 million na po tayo ngayon (We have surpassed the levels of 2019, 2018, and then we have now recovered from 2020’s 26.2 million, if we’re going to add the Alternative Learning System, we now have 28 million),” he said.
Meanwhile, the DepEd said nominated schools for the progressive face-to-face classes have now reached 25,173 (24,476 public; 697 private).
This figure is 43.8 percent of the 57,475 total schools nationwide, equating to more than 5.4 million learners.

I agree with Sec. Briones, we need to enroll our kids early to avoid a crowded lines in the last day of enrollment.Lets not forget that there is an existing virus thats circulating especially in a crowded places. Its safer for us to avoid and to deal with crowds.

It is good to enroll students early so that DepEd can fix their plans early and plan for the coming school year.

This is a good decision.

Pre registration is really important. We should prepare our children to the upcoming school year. Hoping its going to be face to face kase maraming magulang ang nahihirapan na turuan ang kanilang anak at maraming bata ang hirap matuto ng walang guro na umaantabay.
