DOJ chief OK, in hospital for ‘further tests’
MANILA – Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra is in a hospital and will remain admitted for further tests.
In a message to reporters, Undersecretary Adrian Sugay said Guevarra, 67, “was not feeling well this morning (Tuesday)” and “was brought to the hospital” where he “is under observation and will undergo routine tests”.
“He is okay now,” Sugay said.
Later in the afternoon, Guevarra sent a text message to reporters that he “had breathing and fatigue problems the past few weeks” before he was taken to the hospital.
He said he will undergo more tests, including an angiogram, a procedure to check on blood vessels and arteries.
Before he was appointed DOJ chief in 2018, he served as Deputy Executive Secretary, a post he also held during the administration of the late Benigno Aquino III.
