Celine Dion impressed by 10-year-old Pinoy’s cover of ‘All By Myself’ in ‘America’s Got Talent’
Ten-year-old Filipino singer Peter Rosalita caught the attention of pop icon Celine Dion for his own rendition of the latter’s hit song, “All By Myself,” in “America’s Got Talent (AGT).”
Peter, who was born in Abu Dhabi, stunned the audience and judges by belting out high notes in the show’s 16th season premiere. His performance was followed by loud cheers from the audience and a standing ovation from the judges.
Peter’s cover of “All By Myself” was posted on AGT’s Twitter account, which was quote-retweeted by Celine, saying, “Bravo! — Team Celine,” along with clapping hands emojis.
Peter saw Celine’s reaction and shared it on his Instagram account.
“I got goosebumps! Thank you @celinedion,” he said, along with a screenshot of the vocal powerhouse’s tweet.
The show’s judges — Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell — gave Peter four “yes” votes, making him proceed to the next round of the competition.
Sofia asked the 10-year-old singer, “Do you get surprised when you hear your own voice?” to which Peter responded, “Yes, I’m so nervous.” Sofia then told him, “We were so nervous too but we loved you!”
Howie, meanwhile, described Peter as an “amazing” singer, adding that he believes Peter will “go far” in the competition.
Describing the young contestant’s voice, Heidi said, “It is so high you would think like a glass would explode.”
“I mean, Mariah better watch out,” she quipped.
For Simon, Peter showed an “incredible audition” that gave him “goosebumps.”
“You have an amazing voice, an amazing personality, an amazing energy. Everyone is gonna fall in love with you after this audition,” he continued.
Aside from the audience and the judges, the show’s host, Terry Crews, also praised Peter backstage, saying, “that was amazing.”
Season 16 of AGT premiered on NBC on June 1.
