San Juan City mayor tests positive for Covid-19

MANILA – San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora confirmed he tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
After receiving the result of his confirmatory tests, Zamora immediately announced he contracted the dreaded virus despite being asymptomatic and in good physical condition.
He is quarantined at Cardinal Santos Medical Center “to ensure that I do not transmit the virus to anyone else in the community and to protect everyone around me including my children and my wife who is a cancer survivor,” his Facebook post on Monday read.
The 6-foot-5 Zamora, a former team captain of the De La Salle basketball team, urged those who have been in close contact with him to have themselves tested.
“We can arrange for free swab tests for you,” he said.
Those wishing to avail of tests may coordinate with San Juan City Health Officer Dr. Rosalie Sto. Domingo, Mondays to Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They can also visit the city’s Covid-19 operations center at the second floor of San Juan City Hall.
“I’m very sorry for the inconvenience. Please all stay safe,” he said.
In early February, Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano also contracted the virus.
