MRT-3 worker linked to UK variant tests negative for Covid-19
MANILA – A Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) personnel, whose mother tested positive for the coronavirus UK variant, has tested negative for the disease.
“Their tests all yielded negative results. His mother has also been released from the quarantine facility on 06 February after completing the required quarantine period, and is now fully recovered,” the MRT-3 said in a statement Monday night.
No cases of the UK variant have been identified among the rail line personnel who tested positive for Covid-19.
The MRT-3 worker was brought to a quarantine facility before Jan. 20 and completed his mandatory quarantine on Jan. 30.
As of Monday, there are a total of 13 active cases among MRT-3 depot personnel, down from 56 active cases on Jan. 25.
“To date, there are no reported Covid-19 cases in the stations. The cases are still contained within the depot, mostly in offices,” the MRT-3 said.
To avoid the spread of the disease, only essential employees with negative swab tests can report to the offices, the depot, and the stations.
“We will also continue to strictly implement other health and safety protocols, especially in stations and trains,” the MRT-3 said.
