Regine Velasquez’s digital concert on Feb 14 postponed after singer’s exposure to COVID-19
“Asia’s Songbird” Regine Velasquez-Alcasid was scheduled to hold a digital concert on Valentine’s Day but it was put off after the singer was exposed to an individual who contracted coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
ABS-CBN Events and IME’s statement on Wednesday, February 10, read that Regine is now under quarantine.
“We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused,” they said.
“The health and safety of our artist and staff is our priority and we are thankful for your support and understanding,” they continued.
It was on December 15 when Regine first shared a poster of the digital concert, “Freedom,” on Twitter.
Following the Wednesday announcement, the Asia’s Songbird assured that she and her family are doing well, but the postponement of the virtual event saddened her.
“Sayang yung date natin no (We missed our date). I was sooooo looking forward to it pa naman,” Regine wrote.
“But don’t worry I’m ok. Maga lang face ko coz (My face is just swollen because) I’ve been crying but like I said GOD has a plan and His plans are always better. Stay safe guys,” she added.
ABS-CBN and IME said tickets that have been sold will still be honored on the new concert date, which has yet to be announced.
“Freedom” was set to be directed by Paolo Valenciano with musical direction from Raul Mitra. It was expected to be streamed simultaneously on digital platforms ktx.ph, iWanttFC, and TFC IPTV.
In a media conference last month, Regine revealed that there will be ‘a lot of surprises’ in the show.
“It’s a totally different repertoire. A lot of these songs are not within my comfort zone. It’s not my genre. Also, I will be singing my own songs, the songs that I have recorded but it’s not the usual song, alam mo yon, yung mga lagi kong kinakanta (you know, those that I always sing),” she said.
“Hopefully, ma-surprise naman ang lahat (they will all be surprised),” she added.
