PH Covid-19 recoveries now more than 429K
MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday said the country logged 8,080 new recoveries from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), pushing the total number of recovered cases to 429,134.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the figures meant 93 percent of those who tested positive for the virus have so far beaten the illness.
The agency also reported 1,754 new confirmed cases and 36 new deaths.
These figures brought the overall tally of active cases to 21,708 and the death toll to 8,947.
The DOH said about 81.3 percent of the active cases are mild, 8.7 percent are asymptomatic, 3.2 percent are severe, 0.37 percent are moderate, and 6.4 percent are in critical condition.
Quezon City topped the list of places that logged the most number of new cases with 163 infections.
It was followed by Rizal with 104, Benguet with 83, Laguna with 83, and Bulacan with 61.
A DOH data on Dec. 19 showed that 1,163 or 5.5 percent of 21,281 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.
The DOH also said it has 21,300-bed capacity dedicated to patients with Covid-19.
Available are 60 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds, 65 percent of 13,500 isolation beds, and 75 percent of 5,900 ward beds.
About 82 percent of 2,000 ventilators are available for Covid-19 patients’ use.
