MANILA – The recovered mobile phone of the missing lawyer of the Department of Tourism (DOT) will be subjected to a digital forensic autopsy, an official of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Wednesday.

“We already have the mobile phone of Atty. Ryan (Oliva) found inside his bag recovered in Lubang (Occidental Mindoro), and will submit the same for digital forensic autopsy,” NBI spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin told reporters Wednesday.

“It was turned over to Lubang police, then turned over by local PNP to CIDG (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group). CIDG turned over the mobile phone to the Oliva family who surrendered the same to NBI,” Lavin added.

The NBI has been tapped to lead the search for Oliva, who is the chief of the DOT’s Legislative Liaison Unit and a law professor.

He has been missing since Nov. 21 when he left his home in Quezon City with a backpack and supposedly taking a taxi ride to Nasugbu in Batangas City.

His bag containing identification cards and other personal belongings were recovered on Nov. 27.
