PH to get $18-M worth of precision-guided munition from US

MANILA – The Philippines will receive USD18 million worth of precision-guided munitions from the United States next month, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said Tuesday.

“They have given us USD18 million worth of (military) equipment (that will arrive) next month.

Those are precision-guided munitions that can be dropped with pinpoint accuracy,” he said during an interview with defense reporters in South Harbor, Manila as he led the send-off of the BRP Tarlac.

The BRP Tarlac was deployed to typhoon-battered Catanduanes for a relief mission.

Lorenzana did not give specifics on the munitions.

He said he recently had a meeting with John Law, chargés d’affaires of the US Embassy in Manila, during which they discussed the Visiting Forces Agreement, US concerns over the West Philippine Sea, US foreign policy, military equipment they were offering to the Philippines, and pandemic-related assistance.
