Filipino singer-songwriter Ice Seguerra remembered his father, Decoroso “Dick” Seguerra, as “an awesome father, husband, brother, lolo (grandfather), friend, leader” in an Instagram post on Sunday, November 15, as he announced his dad’s passing.

Umakyat na siya sa heaven bandang tanghali ngayong Nov. 15, 2020 para makipagvideoke kina Matt Monroe at Frank Sinatra (He went up to heaven this afternoon, Nov. 15, 2020, to have a videoke session with Matt Monroe and Frank Sinatra),” Ice wrote in the caption of a black-and-white photo of his dad.

His father, Ice said, had “touched many lives by his kindness, gentle support and most of all, his sense of humor.”

Makakapahinga ka na (You can rest now), OG Pogi. No more pain. We love you always and forever, Daddy,” the singer said.

Liza Diño, Ice’s wife, took to Facebook to pay tribute to her Daddy Dick, thanking him for loving her like his own daughter.

“‘Wag po kayong mag-alala, aalagaan ko po at mamahalin ko po si Ice (Don’t worry, I will take care and love Ice), and the whole family like the way you loved them,” she said, along with a captured moment between Ice and his dad.

Mahal na mahal na mahal ka namin (We love you very much),” she added.

It was in March when Ice disclosed that his dad had cancer. Despite the challenge, the singer said in August that his father’s condition made one good thing for them: it had helped their family to become closer.

“We became more open, expressive, more understanding of each other’s pain and journey. We hug each other more, give kisses spontaneously. We are happier,” Ice said.

“It’s amazing how the universe always gives us the opportunity to mend broken or strained relationships, you just have to be mindful and seize that opportunity when it presents itself to you, ” he added.

Ice said they will announce details of his dad’s wake as soon as they finalize it.
