NDRRMC warns public vs. bogus ‘Rolly’ donation drives

MANILA – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Wednesday warned the public not to fall for bogus solicitation drives for the victims of Super Typhoon Rolly.

In an advisory, NDRRMC spokesperson Mark Cashean Timbal urged prospective donors wishing to donate cash to transact directly with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) Camp Aguinaldo Branch, Quezon City.

The following are the official DBP bank accounts of the agency:

-Peso account No. 000-00149-435-3

-US dollar account No. 01-5-00047-435-4

Meanwhile, individuals and private organizations wishing to donate food, water, and other assistance to typhoon-affected families may call 0917-827-5743, the official number of Office of Civil Defense and NDRRMC Operations Center, to get instructions on how to course their donations.

Mag-iingat po sana ang mga kababayan natin sa mga bogus solicitations at makipag-ugnayan lang po sa focal person natin sa nasabing contact number at mag-deposito lang sa na-publish na accounts ng (Our fellow Filipinos should be wary of bogus solicitations and are asked to coordinate only with our focal persons through the said number and deposit in the official bank accounts of the) NDRRMC,” Timbal said.

The NDRRMC made the reminder as some unscrupulous persons may take advantage of calamities or disasters by launching bogus donation drives.
