‘Quinta’-affected families now 57.7K: NDRRMC

MANILA – The number of families affected by Typhoon “Quinta” has climbed to 57,742 or totalling 242,220 persons.

In an update Thursday, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director Ricardo Jalad said these individuals are residing in 1,008 barangays in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.

Of this number, 16,830 families or 65,579 persons are being served in 916 evacuation centers while 2,813 families or 11,318 individuals are being aided outside.

Quinta also caused 63 incidents of flooding, 22 landslides, five maritime mishaps, and one storm surge in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and the National Capital Region (NCR).

The NDRRMC also reported that 16 persons died, 22 were injured, and four others missings due to the onslaught of “Quinta” in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.

A total of 105 road sections and 22 bridges in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and CAR were affected by flooding, road slips, and landslides of which 29 road sections and five bridges are not passable.

Houses damaged were placed at 29,528 of which 27,213 were classified as partially damaged and 2,315 totally damaged.

Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said agriculture and infrastructure damage from the typhoon was placed at PHP737,129,545 in Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, and Western Visayas.

This can be broken down into PHP705,221,205 for agriculture and PHP30,860,000 for infrastructure.
