Voter registration now from Monday-Friday
MANILA – Starting next month, the voter registration will be from Mondays to Fridays, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Thursday.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said the schedule has been adjusted as they will be disinfecting every Saturday.
“The Commission on Elections deems it necessary to revert to the weekday schedule to make way for Saturday disinfection days in all offices of the Election Officer nationwide,” he said in a statement.
Voter registration, which resumed on Sept. 1, was scheduled from Tuesdays to Saturdays.
“Beginning November 9, 2020, the conduct of voter registration will be from Mondays to Fridays, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.,” Jimenez added.
He said voter registration remains suspended pursuant to Resolution No.
10674, in critical areas that may be under localized enhanced community quarantine as determined by authorities.
Jimenez reminded the public that Covid-19 precautions are strictly implemented.
“Wearing of face mask and face shield is mandatory, the number of people to be allowed inside the Comelec office will be limited to ensure compliance with physical distancing requirements, and applicants are encouraged to bring their own pens,” he said.
The voter registration will run until Sept. 30, 2021.
The poll body also announced that voter registration will be suspended on Oct. 31, 2020 in observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.
“Voter registration will resume the following Tuesday, November 3, 2020,” it added.
