PH Covid-19 recoveries almost 255K, active cases at 56,445
MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported 2,611 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and 416 new recoveries, bringing the country’s total recoveries at 254,617.
With the new cases, active cases now stood at 56,445.
In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the DOH said the new cases bring the country’s total cases to 316,678, with most of the new cases reported from the National Capital Region (1,084), Cavite (202), Iloilo (182), Bulacan (163), and Rizal (132).
The majority of active cases, it said, were showing mild symptoms at 87 percent, followed by those with no symptoms at 8.8 percent, those in critical condition at 2.9 percent, and severe at 1.3 percent.
There were 56 new deaths, bringing the total casualties against Covid-19 at 5,616.
The number of confirmed Covid-19 deaths per week continues to decrease, with the highest number of weekly deaths last recorded on August 6 to 13.
The number of unoccupied beds available for Covid-19 cases continues to rise and is below critical levels, while only 24 percent of the country’s 2,200 ventilators are in use.
It said that 47 percent of the country’s 1,900 beds at intensive care units (ICU) are occupied, as well as 41 percent of 15,200 isolation beds, and 43 percent of 6,100 ward beds.
In NCR, a little more than half of all beds for Covid-19 patients are occupied while only 33 percent of its 832 ventilators are in use.
In the NCR, currently occupied are 55 percent of 745 ICU beds, 52 percent of 4,100 isolation beds, and 53 percent of its 1,800 ward beds.
