Anne Curtis tells story behind giving birth to Dahlia in Australia
TV host and actress Anne Curtis gave birth to her first child, Dahlia Amélie, on March 2 in Australia. But in an interview with G3 San Diego’s #LiveWithG3, the actress revealed that welcoming Dahlia there was not her initial plan.
“It was a last-minute decision really. I had already chosen a doctor and also a hospital and then parang last minute I decided na parang I was working so hard kasi and parang hindi nila ako mapigilan mag-work (they cannot stop me from working),” Anne recalled.
“So parang I felt one way that would really get me to stop working is to just kind of be here [in Australia],” she added.
But aside from work, the “major factor” that pushed her to stay in Australia was being with her mom, Carmen, who guides her as she becomes a first-time parent.
“It’s my first baby and having her help me through it ‘yun ‘yung naging parang, parang doon na lang ako para mas tahimik (that’s what, that’s what made me decide to just stay there because it’s quieter), I can really just focus on the first few weeks and months of my baby daughter’s life,” she said.
Anne, who has been in Australia since December, shared she has plans to come back to the Philippines, but since some restrictions are still in place due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, staying in Australia might be the best option for her daughter’s safety.
For now, Anne said she and her husband, Erwan Heussaff, enjoy every bit of their time together with their child.
“Dahlia gets both of her parents 24/7,” she said.
“I think that’s the beauty of what’s happening now — that we really get to spend so much time with her, I mean all of our hours are dedicated to just Dahlia,” she added.
Anne and Erwan both posted photos of Dahlia as she turned six months old on September 2.
Celebrating this, Anne said she felt mixed emotions of “excitement to seeing her grow and experiencing all her milestones BUT also wanting to keep her as my little baby.”

Erwan, meanwhile, wrote of Dahlia, “A lifetime of smiles in half a year.”
