Tony Award winner and Broadway star Lea Salonga is sending out a message of hope to people amid the global crisis with her new song, “Dream Again,” released on Friday, August 21.

Salonga shared a three-minute video of the song on her Instagram account in which various people were seen holding a paper where they have written what they are looking forward to once the world overcomes challenges that the pandemic has brought. Most of them wished nothing but to be with their families and friends, hold them into their arms, and spend quality time with them.

“The significance of ‘Dream Again’ would be that, while we’re stuck in quarantine or lockdown or whatever it may be, we still can actually aspire and look forward to and plan in the hopes that once all of this is done, we’ll be ready for you to make all those dreams come true,” the singer told HollywoodLife.

According to HollywoodLife, the song was made through the collaborative effort of Salonga, Blair Bodine, Daniel Edmonds, and a whole international crew of people.

Her daughter, Nicole Chien, also took part in the process illustrating the song’s cover art, which shows a person standing in the middle and a shooting star with a rainbow-colored trail above.

In his tweet, Edmonds said it was a “huge honor” for him to write the lyrics of the song along with Bodine.

“Written, produced, recorded, and mixed across 4 countries during lockdown. I hope that it resonates with people in this shared, global moment,” he said.

Salonga said proceeds from “Dream Again” will be given to The Actor’s Fund, an organization founded in 1882 that supports performing arts and entertainment professionals.

In May, Lea posted a video where she encouraged everyone to send her a photo of themselves with a note saying what they are dreaming of doing once the pandemic ends. Lea showed an example by holding a paper that reads, “Hug my mom and brother, and get back on stage!”
