MANILA – The Philippine Army (PA) on Wednesday welcomed Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao as the newest member of its Multi-Sector Advisory Board (MSAB).

The Filipino boxing icon, who is also an Army reserve colonel, took his oath and received his Army Transformation Roadmap pin via video teleconferencing in a ceremony led by PA chief Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay.

“As a member of the Board, your role in bridging the gap between the Philippine Army, the private sector, and civil society is indeed invaluable. We look forward to your winning form, the fulfillment of our Army Transformation Roadmap in 2028,” he added.

Col. Ramon Zagala, the Army spokesperson, said Pacquiao’s experience in good governance will translate into initiatives that will ensure the continuity and sustainability of the PA Transformation Roadmap and in promoting volunteerism and shared responsibility.

He added that Pacquiao, being a boxing champion, also supports and encourages physical fitness among soldiers.
