Communities in British Columbia receive support for stronger asset management practices

Communities need the tools and support to make evidence-based decisions that can help them plan a healthier, safer and more prosperous future for everyone.
That’s why the Government of Canada is investing $100,000 today in two new projects in British Columbia communities through the Municipal Asset Management Program (MAMP), which is delivered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities on behalf of the federal government. As economies re-open, these projects will help communities make data-driven decisions about roads, water systems, buildings and other key infrastructure.
These new projects will support progress in municipalities of all sizes:
The Township of Langley will update its infrastructure asset management plan. Phase 1 of the project will focus on renewing the asset management plan for stormwater infrastructure. The renewal of the plan will address actions for improvement and incorporate new governance, policy, and levels of service documentation.
The City of Port Coquitlam will use the MAMP funding to support the asset management plans of its infrastructure, including water, sanitary, drainage, roads/transportation, facilities, parks, fleet/equipment, and information services. The work will include developing a state of the infrastructure report and lifecycle, risk and levels of service analyses, among others.
