MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported 807 new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as the country’s total tally of cases reached 54,222.

This brings the total number of recoveries to 14,037.

Out of the 1,387 new reported infections, the DOH said 918 are fresh cases and 469 late cases.

“Seventy-nine duplicates were removed from the total case count. The total cases reported may be subject to change as these numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation,” it said in its latest bulletin.

Meanwhile, the death toll increased to 1,372 after 12 new fatalities were reported, nine of whom passed away in April, one in May, and two in July.

Of the overall case tally, the DOH noted that only 38,813 of the total confirmed infections are active cases, net of reported recoveries, and deaths.

The agency has yet to release the latest breakdown for active cases, but its previous bulletin dated July 10 revealed that there are already 2,619 asymptomatic patients, 35,348 with mild symptoms, 257 in severe condition, and 100 critical.

So far, the Philippines has a total of 15,053 beds allotted for Covid-19 patients, 3,415 of which are ward beds (51.92 percent occupied), 10,339 are isolation beds (44.14 percent occupied), and 10,399 are intensive care unit beds (43.49 percent occupied).
