23 more Pinoys abroad afflicted with Covid-19: DFA

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday reported 23 more cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among Filipinos overseas, raising the overall tally to 8,324.
The DFA registered two new recoveries and two new deaths in the Middle East, bringing the total number to 5,057 and 508, respectively.
Meanwhile, the active cases stand at 2,759– 80 in the Asia Pacific, 450 in Europe, 2,081 in the Middle East, and 148 in the Americas.
Data from the DFA showed that cases from the Middle East comprise 73 percent of the total tally. However, a large percentage of the recoveries were logged from the same region at 3,775.
The Middle East has the highest number of coronavirus-related deaths at 248, followed by the Americas at 164, Europe at 94, and the Asia Pacific Region at two.
“As it celebrates its 122nd Founding Anniversary, the DFA, together with its Foreign Services Posts, remains unwavering and relentless in serving and assisting the Filipino people, especially during these challenging times,” the DFA said.
