Covid-19 cases among Pinoys abroad reach 8,301
MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Monday that 2,160 more Filipinos abroad got infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the number of persons overseas contracting the disease to 8,301.
In its case bulletin, the DFA said the additional cases are from the Middle East and Europe.
The DFA also reported a significant increase in the number of recovered cases at 2,193 which brings the total number of recoveries to 5,055.
Only 10 new deaths were recorded, bringing the total number to 506.
Meanwhile, a total of 2,740 Filipinos abroad are still undergoing treatment.
“The 76 percent and 35 percent increases in the new confirmed cases and new recoveries, respectively, are due to accumulated late reports from some countries in the Middle East observing strict confidentiality and privacy laws. It is worth noting, however, that the share of total deaths against the total confirmed cases decreased to 6 percent compared to last week’s figures at 7.7 percent,” the DFA said.
