40 more Covid-19 cases among Pinoys abroad bring total to 5,469

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday reported 40 more coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases among overseas Filipinos, bringing the total to 5,469.

“Today’s figures include new reports from the main geographic regions, showing 40 new confirmed Covid-19 cases among Filipinos abroad,” the DFA said in a statement.

The agency also recorded 20 more recoveries in the Americas, Europe, and the Asia Pacific region. The total number now stands at 2,366 — with at least 442 in Asia Pacific, 299 in Europe, 1,376 in Middle East/Africa, and 249 in the Americas.

Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 390 following the death of eight Filipinos in the Americas and the Middle East.

Regional comparative data shows that to date, the Middle East has the highest recorded Covid-19 cases at 3,385 as well as patients undergoing treatment at 1,867.

The Americas, on the other hand, still has the highest number of fatalities at 155, followed by the Middle East at 142.
