No drinking in public places, Isko reminds Manileños
MANILA – While the liquor ban has been lifted in the city of Manila on Monday (June 8), Manila Mayor Franciso “Isko” Moreno Domagoso reminded residents that selling to minors and drinking in public places are prohibited.
Moreno issued the directive through Executive Order Number 26.
In late March, Domagoso issued Executive Order Number 18 which temporarily imposed an alcohol ban in the city at the onset of the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in the National Capital Region.
EO 18 prohibits the sale and distribution of liquor in all establishments in Manila.
With the easing of the community quarantine, stringent measures and policies have started to ease.
EO 26 states that “the downgrading of the community quarantine category of HUCs (highly urbanized cities) in the NCR would necessarily result in the relaxation of some stringent measures and limitations earlier imposed on the movement and transportation of goods and people, and conduct of businesses within the region”.
“In line with the policy of the national government to relax certain stringent measures, there is now a need to lift the alcohol/liquor ban imposed in the city,” it added.
