One of the employees at Darryll and Tracy’s No Frills store located in 1257 Highbury Avenue has tested positive of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In the company’s social media post, the officials of the grocery store confirmed that the employee tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19 and was last seen on the store on May 12th.

“We understand that you may have questions and want to assure you we take your safety, and the safety of our team, very seriously,” read the statement on the grocery store’s official Facebook page.

The store’s officials say that an additional cleaning and sanitation was arranged before the store proceeded to re-open to the public on Tuesday as usual.

No Frills assured that increased sanitation and protocols including social distancing are being implemented at the store.

“We have a number of protocols in place at the store-level, including daily sanitization and social distancing practices to minimize the risk of exposure to our customers and team members,” the officials said.

The store’s management has reached out to the Middlesex-London Health Unit to help conduct a contact tracing to determine individuals who may have come in contact with the employee.

“We will work with the local public health team on any further directions,” the statement concluded.

The supermarket was not the only one with confirmed cases of employees contracting the virus in London. In April, the Real Canadian Superstore in Oxford Street East and the Oxford Street West both had cases of employees’ positive of the coronavirus disease.

On Tuesday, an additional 11 new cases were confirmed by the Middlesex-London health unit, bringing the total number of cases in the region to 484. 69 percent or 337 of the patients confirmed with the coronavirus disease have recovered.
