MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Wednesday that 24 more Filipinos contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) abroad, increasing the total to 2,455.

The DFA also reported nine new recoveries and four new deaths – two from Europe and two in the Middle East/Africa.

“Despite the decrease in the daily rate of recoveries reported by the DFA through its Foreign Service Posts today, the total number of overseas Filipinos who recovered from Covid-19 at 858 cases is now three times more than the total fatalities at 284,” its statement read.

The recoveries now comprise almost 35 percent of the total confirmed cases.

At least 1,313, on the other hand, are still undergoing treatment – 125 in the Asia-Pacific region, 434 in Europe, 566 in the Middle East/Africa, and 188 in the Americas.

Based on previous data, four were added in the Asia-Pacific region, 10 in Europe, one in the Middle East/Africa, and two in the Americas.
