17 more overseas Filipinos recover from Covid-19
MANILA— The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday reported that 17 more overseas Filipinos recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) raising the total number to 451. However, 33 were new confirmed cases for a total 1,677 infections.
Based on DFA data, the 451 recoveries remain higher than the number of deaths at 201.
Currently, a total of 1,025 Filipinos abroad are undergoing treatment.
“The WHO Situation Report as of yesterday, records Europe and Americas, both home to most of our OFWs, as the two regions with the highest total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases across the globe,” said DFA Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez.
Of the figures, 367 cases were recorded from the Asia Pacific region, at least 483 in Europe, 356 in the Middle East/Africa, and 471 in the American region.
Meanwhile, the highest number of deaths came from the Americas at 115, followed by Europe with 66, Middle East/Africa with 18, and the Asia Pacific with two.
