DFA records 152 new Covid-19 cases among OFs
MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Saturday reported 152 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among overseas Filipinos (OFs), bringing the total to 1,337.
Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez said most of the new cases came from the Middle East.
“The DFA has been monitoring and compiling reports of Covid-19 cases among our OFs since March. For the past month, an increasing trend of confirmed cases has been noted with an average of 37 cases per day, while there is a steady rate of recoveries and deaths at 7 and 5 cases per day, respectively,” he told reporters.
In terms of regional data, most of the confirmed cases are among Filipinos in the European region at 413, the highest number of recoveries was in Asia and the Pacific at 198, and most cases of fatalities are in the Americas at 105.
To date, a total of 328 Filipinos abroad recovered while 184 died due to the disease, two of whom were recorded in Asia and the Pacific, 63 in Europe, 14 in the Middle East/Africa, and 105 in the Americas.
