More Covid-19 recoveries reported Friday
MANILA – More patients have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Department of Health reported on Friday.
As of 4 p.m., there were 52 new recoveries, bringing the total number to 487.
“Kasama sa naitalang naka-recover ay ang mga pasyenteng naka-confine at pasyenteng may positive, mild, asymptomatic cases na naka-recover mula sa kanilang self-isolation at home quarantine (Among those who have recovered are patients who were confined and those with mild symptoms, and asymptomatic cases who have recovered from self-isolation and home quarantine),” DOH Undersecretary Ma. Rosario Vergeire said during the Beat Covid-19 virtual briefing.
Meanwhile, new infections numbered 218 (PH5661-5878), bringing the total number of persons infected to 5,878.
Deaths recorded stood at 387 with 25 new deaths.
Vergeire said 766 health care workers have contracted Covid-19, including 339 doctors and 242 nurses. A total of 22 have succumbed to the disease.
In a recent statement, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said the government would continue strengthening its efforts to address the Covid-19 pandemic as he thanked all front-line medical workers fighting the disease.
“To the DOH team at sa mga kasama naming front-liners, alam kong kayo ay pagod na pagod na. Karamihan sa inyo ay hindi na natutulog at ang iba ay may sakit na. Taos puso akong nagpapasalamat sa inyo sa mahusay ninyong serbisyo para sa bayan (To the DOH team and our front-liners, I know how exhausted you are. Most of you have been deprived of sleep and some are even sick. My heartfelt thanks to all of you and your great service to the nation),” Duque said.
“Para sa ating mga mahal sa buhay at mga kababayan na umaasa sa atin, hindi tayo susuko sa gitna ng laban. Kaya natin ‘to (For our loved ones and fellow citizens who rely on us, we are not going to give up mid-way through this fight. We can do it),” he added.
