Manila condemns missile attacks vs. Saudi Arabia
MANILA – The Philippine government, through the Department of Foreign affairs (DFA), on Saturday, denounced the recent missile strikes launched against Saudi Arabia.
In a statement, the agency described the attack as “a destabilizing provocation” as the world grapples with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
“The Philippine government condemns the recent missile strikes directed against Saudi Arabia. The attacks are a destabilizing provocation at a time when the world needs to focus its resources and attention on the global fight against Covid-19,” it said.
State-run Saudi Press Agency reported that the ballistic missiles were launched by Al-Houthi rebels from Yemen towards Riyadh and Jazan.
Two civilians were reportedly “slightly injured” due to fallen debris from the intercepted missile that exploded mid-air.
