Actress Iza Calzado was confirmed to have contracted novel coronavirus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to her manager Noel Ferrer.

She can actually breathe now without any oxygen assistance,” he said.

He said Calzado will be tested again if she has recovered from COVID-19.

“Her husband Ben and others who interacted with her have not shown any symptoms,” Ferrer said.

“She doesn’t know where she contracted the virus from, but it’s best for all of us to take seriously the advice of doctors and health authorities on proper hygiene, physical distancing, quarantine and social responsibility,” he continued.

Ferrer also thanked the frontliners who are giving assistance to all Filipino citizens like Calzado amid this coronavirus battle.

“Let us continue to pray for the healing of Iza and our brothers and sisters who are most affected by this pandemic,” he said.

Meanwhile, Calzado supporters and friends in the entertainment industry were quick to send out their prayers for her upon learning about her condition.

This came just a few days after the actress disclosed to an Instagram account that she was hospitalized due to pneumonia,  sharing a photo of her wearing a hospital gown and an oxygen mask.

Despite what she is going through, Calzado chose to remain positive in life, saying that she will overcome her fight with the grace of God.
