Manila cop tests positive for Covid-19
MANILA – A police officer assigned at the Manila Police District (MPD) tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), an official said on Tuesday.
NCRPO chief, Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas, said the police officer was previously classified as a person under investigation last March 17 and was confirmed positive for the virus based on laboratory test results released by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
Upon confirmation of the test results, Sinas ordered the disinfection and decontamination of the police station where the cop was assigned.
“All his colleagues will be quarantined for 14 days. They will be considered Persons Under Investigation (PUI). We will advise them for home quarantine until March 28, 2020,” Sinas said in a media statement.
Sinas also assured due assistance for the recovery of the police officer whom he called “NCRPO Patient 1”.
“We are also conducting a contact tracing to other people who have contacted NCRPO Patient 1,” he added.
He said other policemen will be tapped to replace their colleagues who were subjected to quarantine.
The MPD is constantly checking on the condition of the police officer.
