Palace prays for frontliners’ safety amid Covid-19 outbreak
MANILA – Malacañang on Saturday prayed that all persons who are on the frontline to combat the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) will remain safe and healthy.
In a press statement, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the Palace appreciates the gallantry and dedication of those who are helping the government in its fight against Covid-19.
”To them goes our prayers to shield them from the dreaded disease and our eternal gratitude for their selfless and heroic deeds,” Panelo said.
Panelo issued the statement, as the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 rose to 307, as of Saturday afternoon.
He said the Office of the President would ensure that frontliners will continue to get the assistance they need in the performance of their duties.
“These selfless and dedicated countrymen of ours who man the ramparts against this scourge of an unseen invader that threatens the very survival of our nation are the new heroes of this generation,” Panelo said.
Luzon island was placed under an enhanced community quarantine until April 12 to stop the transmission of Covid-19 in the country.
Panelo said the Palace acknowledges the heroism of the frontliners of the ”tortuous and deathly” battle against Covid-19.
He added that the executive branch is extending its appreciation and gratitude to doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers who continue and constantly place their lives on the line to attend and care for their patients.
“The Office of the President similarly relays its thanks to our local scientists and researchers for their intellect, creativity, and efforts in developing test kits,” Panelo said.
Panelo also thanked the soldiers, policemen, and the personnel of other law enforcement agencies who leave their families in their hours of duty to ensure the strict enforcement of the community quarantine, as well as to secure the safety of the Filipino people.
Panelo said the efforts of local government officials who are enforcing the established protocols and guidelines of the enhanced community quarantine are also appreciated.
He praised media workers who update the public on the fight against Covid-19.
Panelo also lauded the employees at the drugstores, supermarkets and groceries, the farmers, and those who are engaged in food preparation and delivery services who make sure that there will sufficient food supply to the people.
He said the Palace also thanks business owners, employees in the private and public sectors who form part of the skeletal workforces of their offices, and frontline drivers.
Panelo said the government also recognizes the pilots and cabin crew of various airlines who brought overseas Filipino workers home, as well as those who wish to return to their respective countries.
