MANILA — Airport yellow taxis and coupon taxis have been allowed to transport passengers to/from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), but they are only allowed within Metro Manila, an executive from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said Friday.

“(MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal) coordinated with the DOTr (Department of Transportation) to grant them exemption from the transportation ban being implemented during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine,” MIAA Public Affairs Department’s officer-in-charge Consuelo Bungag told the Philippine News Agency.

Under the enhanced community quarantine’s updated guidelines, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), balikbayans, and foreign nationals are allowed to leave any time, provided they travel to the airport only within 24 hours of the date and time of their departure.

Outbound passengers may be accompanied by one companion or driver to and from the airport.

Allowing taxis at NAIA provides travelers, especially commuters, with more options to get to their destination.

At present, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) provides free transportation to/from NAIA.

OWWA’s bus routes include Tabang Exit, Bocaue Exit, Pampanga, Santa Rosa Exit and Turbina.
