DOH chief currently ‘asymptomatic’
MANILA — Health Secretary Francisco Duque III has been tested for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and is on home quarantine, an official of the Department of Health (DOH) said Thursday.
In a text message, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said Duque is “currently asymptomatic”.
“He has already been tested for Covid-19 as he is asthmatic and hypertensive. He is now doing work from home,” Vergeire said.
On Tuesday, the DOH confirmed that one of its senior officials has tested positive for Covid-19.
“The lone confirmed case is a director. Contrary to circulating posts, no member of the DOH Executive Committee is positive for Covid-19,” the DOH said.
