Filipino singer Marcelito Pomoy has obtained his ticket to the grand finals of talent competition America’s Got Talent.
This, after he blew the crowd’s minds during the semi-finals with his stunning rendition of Andrea Bocelli’s “Con Te Partiro,” singing the song with, of course, his unique dual voices that never disappoint.
With this performance, Pomoy gained not only the audience’s loud cheers and applause but also a standing ovation from the show’s judges Howie Mandel, Alesha Dixon, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell.
“I gotta say that I believe that you have the best shot of winning this whole thing.
I really do,” Mandel said.
“This is the semifinals [and] you raised your game. The woman in you was just as good as she was the last time. But you as a man, you went up a notch. She tried to stay up with you but she couldn’t,” he added.
Dixon, meanwhile, said Pomoy’s song choice was “absolutely brilliant” as Bocelli’s 1995 hit has indeed made him “shine.”
Klum also commented that she has been waiting for her “favorite” all day to come up to the stage.
Cowell, for his part, did not deny that the Filipino singer has a “very unique, incredible, special talent, however, he challenged him to “take a bigger risk” in the grand finals.
“I do believe that with the gift that you’ve got, you’ve got a massive career in front of you,” he continued.
Learning how Pomoy represented the Filipino talent on a foreign stage, his fellow countrymen could not be any prouder of him, hoping that he will be named as this season’s champion.
Aside from Pomoy, the other grand finalists are Tyler Butler-Figueroa, Hans, Sandou Trio Russian Bar, Alexa Lauenburger, and Duo Transcend.
These six finalists will compete next week against four other performers whose acts received the Golden Buzzer — Angelina Jordan, Boogie Storm, V. Unbeatable, and Silhouettes.
Prior to joining the American talent show, Pomoy first joined and won the second season of “Pilipinas Got Talent” in 2011.
His talent impressed the international audience when he appeared as a guest on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2018.
