Authorities nab former child actor Jiro Manio in Marikina

Authorities nabbed former child actor Jiro Manio in Marikina City for alleged frustrated homicide.

According to media reports, Manio, 27, was taken into police custody at around 7 p.

m. on Friday, January 17, after he allegedly stabbed a 25-year-old man identified as Zeus Doctolero.

Doctolero was reportedly walking to his friend’s house when the ex-child star supposedly attacked him. This resulted in a fistfight, which then led to Manio pulling out a knife and stabbing Doctolero three times.

In a report on Dobol B sa News TV, Manio defended himself, saying that he was hit with a helmet by the victim first.

While Manio is currently detained and will face charges of frustrated homicide as per INQUIRER.net‘s report, Doctolero was brought to the hospital for treatment after he sustained injuries on his upper back and head.

Manio once had a stellar acting career, winning Best Child Performer Award in the Metro Manila Film Festival for his role in “Bagong Buwan” when he was just nine years old. At 12, he bagged two best actor awards, Famas and Gawad Urian, for his movie “Magnifico.

The former child actor made headlines again in 2015 when he was spotted loitering at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for days.

Actress Ai-ai delas Alas, who played as the mother of Manio’s character in the “Ang Tanging Ina,” lent her hand to the actor and took him to a rehabilitation facility. Manio was out of rehab in January 2016.

Delas Alas continued to be a mother figure to the Manio when she surprised him on his 26th birthday in 2018.

“Wish ko for you [ay] makabalik ka na ng tuluyan sa mundo ng showbiz at tuluyan na din ang iyong pagbabago (My wish for you is that you can finally return to the world of showbiz and for the changes in your life to continue). God bless you more,” delas Alas wrote in an Instagram post where she shared a video of her holding a cake while singing the ‘happy birthday’ song to Manio.
