MANILA –Margaux “Mocha” Uson, former Assistant Secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), has been appointed to the Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA).

According to a list of new presidential appointees, Uson was appointed as Deputy Administrator of the OWWA on Sept. 23 but a copy of the document was released on Monday (Sept. 30).

She will be replacing former OWWA Deputy Administrator Arnaldo Arevalo “Arnell” Ignacio, who tendered his resignation in February this year.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Ignacio bared he resigned due to “personal reasons” and wished him well.

OWWA is an attached agency of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

In a Senate hearing on PCOO’s budget on Oct. 3, 2018, Uson announced her resignation stressing that Congress was purposely delaying the agency’s deliberations because of her.

Uson has drew flak for posting a video on her personal blog showing Drew Olivar, her co-host in Good News Game Show, singing and dancing while making vulgar gestures to promote the shift to a federalism system of government.

She was also criticized for releasing another video mocking sign language but has apologized for her mistake.

Uson, a pro-Duterte blogger and entertainer, was appointed as PCOO Assistant Secretary in May 2017.

She ran as representative of the AA Kasosyo party-list in the May 2019 midterm elections but lost.

Panelo said that Uson, being a losing party-list candidate, is not covered by the one-year appointment ban.
