MANILA — There is no chance for sacked Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Nicanor Faeldon to be reappointed in the Duterte Cabinet because he has already been accepted to work for a private firm.

After confirming that he will no longer reappoint Faeldon, President Rodrigo R. Duterte on Tuesday night bared that Faeldon has shifted from working for public to a private entity.

“Hindi na siguro. Private. May tumanggap na sa kanya. Private corporation (I don’t think I’ll be reappointing him anymore.

Private. He has already been accepted),” Duterte said in a media interview after the oath-taking rites of Malacañang Press Corps.

Duterte did not identify the private corporation or gave any other information about Faeldon’s new job.

In an exclusive interview over 24 Oras aired on Monday, Duterte said Faeldon “has had enough of controversies in the last few years” to be given a new position in government.

Prior to being BuCor chief, Faeldon was deputy administrator of the Office of Civil Defense, a disaster-response agency under the Department of National Defense.

Despite controversies, Duterte said he still trusted Faeldon, saying he refused to believe that he was involved in corruption within the BuCor.
