“Hello, Love, Goodbye,” which marked the first on-screen team-up of Kapamilya actress Kathryn Bernardo and Kapuso actor Alden Richards, reached a milestone by now being the highest-grossing Filipino movie of all time.

The good news was announced by Star Cinema in an Instagram post on Tuesday, September 3, saying that the film raked in a worldwide gross of P880,603,490.

#HelloMuchLoveWorld ! Salamat salamat po (Thank you, thank you) for making #HelloLoveGoodbye now the highest grossing movie of all time. Salamat salamat salamat po sa pagmamahal (Thank you, thank you, thank you for the love)!” the film production arm of ABS-CBN wrote in the caption.

Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina and written by Carmi Raymundo, the film surpassed the record of “The Hows of Us” which was previously the highest-grossing Pinoy movie, earning a global gross of over P800 million. “The Hows of Us” was also directed by Cathy and starred by Kathryn along with her real-life boyfriend, Daniel Padilla.

“Hello, Love, Goodbye” tells the story of two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) based in Hong Kong, Ethan and Joy. Ethan, played by Alden, is a bartender who is romantically pursuing Joy, a domestic helper played by Kathryn.

In a series of tweets, Star Cinema quoted Cathy as saying, “Aside from my actors, hindi ko pwedeng balewalain ang tulong na binibigay ng staff ko (I cannot disregard the help that my staff gave) through thick and thin.”

She added, “Part of my success are these people behind me and with me.”

Carmi, meanwhile, said, “Gusto namin magpasalamat sa lahat ng nakausap namin sa Hong Kong na nag-share ng kwento nila sa amin (We want to thank all those who shared their stories to us in Hong Kong).”

Also starring alongside Kathryn and Alden are Maymay Entrata, Kakai Bautista, Joross Gamboa, Lovely Abella, and Jameson Blake. The film was released last July 31 in Philippine theaters and then internationally.
