One of the voices of MOR 101.9, who had brought laughter and advice to her radio listeners, has passed away on Tuesday, July 30.

Jasmin Basar, or DJ Jasmin, died after battling chronic kidney disease. She was 35 years old.

MOR 101.9 gave tribute to one of its disc jockeys on a Facebook post, sharing a black and white photo of Jasmin along with a short caption, “Salamat Jasmin. Mahal ka namin (Thank you, Jasmin. We love you).”

It also released a video tribute to Jasmin containing her photos and the fun moments she shared with her co-DJs. Netizens, meanwhile, expressed their heartfelt condolences on the posts’ comment section, with some of them saying they will miss hearing Jasmin’s voice on-air.

Jasmin was known for her radio program “Dear Jasmin,” and later “Dear MOR,” where she gave “relate-much” pieces of advice to her listeners.

Her colleagues DJ Chacha and DJ Popoy also remembered Jasmin on their Facebook pages.

Sharing photos of her happy moments with Jasmin, DJ Chacha said she wanted to remember her colleague as a ‘happy and strong’ person.

“Habang buhay kong ipagpapasalamat na nagkaroon ako ng pagkakataon makatrabaho ka mars. Mamimiss naming lahat ang mga ngiti mo ang halakhak mo, ang mga hugot mo sa radyo (I will be forever grateful that I was given a chance to work with you, Mars. I will miss all your smiles, laughter, and hugots on radio),” she wrote.

For his part, DJ Popoy, Jasmin’s partner in “Dear MOR,” said he will miss the stories, the jokes, and the advice they shared to each other.

“Baby girl Jasmin Balong, Jr, the Turd. Mami-miss kita Manang Jasmin ko (I will miss you, my Manang Jasmin),” he said.

“Tunay kang kaibigan Jasmin. Magpahinga ka na. Gabayan mo kami (You are a true friend, Jasmin. Go and rest. Guide us). Goodbye partner. I love you!” he continued.

Jasmin, a Mass Communication graduate from Far Eastern University (FEU), began her career as a writer for television before she started her radio stint in 2009. It was in 2018 when the DJ told her listeners about her illness.

Jasmin is survived by her parents and four siblings.
