Pia Wurtzbach, Catriona Gray reunite for BBP charity event

Filipina representatives Miss Universe 2015 29-year-old Pia Wurtzbach and Miss Universe 2018 25-year-old Catriona Gray reunite for the Binibining Pilipinas (BBP) Charity Gala, in cooperation with organizations Young Focus and Love Yourself, at the Marriott Hotel in Manila last Tuesday, June 4.

The event, entitled “FrontRow Cares and The Universe Give Back, is a project for the two organizations that the queens have been working with since their reign.

Pia shares a photo to her 8.5 million followers with Catriona captioned, “Last night’s charity gala was a huge success! Thank you to Frontrow Cares and BDO for finding ways to make lives better by generously supporting Love Yourself and Young Focus,” adding, “Welcome back home Queen Catriona Gray!” Pia wore two royal blue gowns throughout the night designed by the House of Rubio. Catriona, on the other hand, was dressed in her signature slit by Jearson D, also sharing an image to her 5.

7 million followers with her “Miss Universe sister.”

Throughout the event, Pia chaired alongside local designer Albert Andrada and Miss Universe 2018 judge Richelle Singson-Michael. The program paid tribute to empowered women, specifically Miss Universe 2010 fourth runner-up Venus Raj and 30-year-old Grace Bacus, a house helper who recently graduated Magna Cum Laude.

The two women spoke to the BBP contestants in a series of seminars last April.

As the main event, the 40 candidates walked in the creations of designers Andrada, Michael Leyva, Rhett Eala, Ito Curata, Jot Losa, Avel Bacudio, Cherry Veric, and Martin Bautista during the night’s fashion show.

Backstage, the two queens were also able to meet the aspirants who also hope to represent the country in the international pageant scene this year.

The coronation night of the 2019 Binibining Pilipinas is upcoming on June 9 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
