Angel Locsin fires back at Jimmy Bondoc’s ABS-CBN renewal criticism
Thirty-four-year-old actress Angel Locsin proves that she is not afraid to express her dismay over comments of “Let Me Be the One” singer Jimmy Bondoc stating that he is “excited to see the biggest TV Network, ABS-CBN, close down.”
Despite being a former Kapuso, Angel defends her current employers immediately from Bondoc’s criticism, directing her opinions to the singer and sharing with her 10.9 million followers in a lengthy post that reads, “Let me be the one to break this news to you so you don’t have to make excuses. The network might not be perfect but for you to be happy about thousands of people losing their jobs is pure evil. Maybe you’re just having a bad day. I will pray for you,” continuing in Filipino, “When you became famous, did you experience sexual harassment? If yes, I encourage you and all the victims to report this to the police. But generalizing that sexual favor is a prerequisite to success is just wrong.”
The situation stems from Bondoc, who is also an appointee of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte for the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, sharing his thoughts last Wednesday, May 22 in a public post, stating, “[ABS-CBN] is a snake pit, where success is based on politics and sexual favors. Nobody dares to talk about it because they either benefit from it, or they would rather not have them as enemies.” He adds, “I am eagerly waiting for your demise. I know how this sounds. And I know the nasty comments which are bound to come. I don’t care. If you think COMELEC is bad, wait until you see the real machinery that is known as ‘the biggest network.’”
