It’s the third championship title for the Petron Blaze Spikers after conquering rivals F2 Logistics in a four-set game for Game Three of the 2019 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix best-of-three finals last Saturday, May 4 at the Flying V Filoil Arena in San Juan.

The set scores ended at 26-24, 25-19, 23-25, and 25-19, with Most Valuable Player (MVP) Stephanie Niemer leading the way alongside her fellow import Kath Bell. Niemer totalled 31 points. Bell, on the other hand, scored 16 points and proved why she was deserving of being hailed Best Outside Spiker. Teammate Remy Palma also impressed with 14 points off nine attacks, one block, and four service aces. For the Cargo Movers, it was MJ Perez and Lindsay Stalzer who chipped double digits at 27 points and 18 points respectively.

Petron’s Shaq delos Santos reacted to his fourth title as head coach of the Blaze Spikers, saying in Filipino, “Our experience as a team is a big deal because before, we also went through the struggles. But, we didn’t give up because we always believe that everything will be okay,” also referring to their Game One loss, but coming back in the next two games to take the overall title. Coach Shaq added, “The Lord gave us a wakeup call in our Game One loss, which was a really important game, but we didn’t lose hope. We were still very positive.”

This is also Petron’s sixth title in the league so far.

Also, besides winning MVP, Niemer was hailed Best Scorer during the awards ceremony. Her teammate, Rhea Dimaculangan was given the award for Best Setter. F2 Logistics did not go empty-handed, as Cargo Movers Ara Galang, Aby Marano, and Dawn Macandili took home the awards for Best Local Open Spiker, Best Local Middle Blocker, and Best Libero, respectively.
