After breaking PH box office records, ‘Avengers Endgame’ stars thank Pinoy fans
The cast of one of the most-anticipated movies of the decade, members of the ‘Avengers Endgame’ cast, specifically Robert Downey Jr. who portrays Ironman, Jeremy Renner who portrays Hawkeye, and Brie Larson who portrays Captain Marvel, expressed their gratitude to fans of the franchise after the movie broke box office records in the country.
In a video posted on the Marvel Studios page, the three actors can be seen showing their appreciation; RDJ, who starred in the film series’ very first film back in 2008, tells Pinoy viewers, “To our fans in the Philippines who have been deemed the biggest fans in Southeast Asia, from the bottom of my arc reactor heart, thank you for the overwhelming love and support you’ve shown to the MCU (Marvel cinematic universe) for the past 10 years.”
Jeremy simply adds, “You guys rock. I’m so excited. I know you’re excited. Let’s be excited together,” while Brie chips, “Sending my photon blast-filled love to you and all as we journey into endgame.” RDJ finishes off the video with, “We got you. Whatever it takes.”
The directors of the four MCU films, Joseph and Anthony Russo, were also featured in the video, saying, “Fans of the MCU in the Philippines, we wanna thank you!”
After pre-selling out in numerous cinemas during the opening day of the film last Wednesday, April 24, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ earned P205.6 million in the Philippines across 970 different screens, defeating the previous record of predecessor ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ which earned P141.6 million. Filipino fans lined up as early as 4 am for tickets, while some cinemas were opened 24 hours just to accommodate more screenings. From Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday after the first day, a record of P937.5 million was tallied from the five day opening weekend.
‘Avengers: Endgame’ concludes the past 22 films over 10 years that the MCU has produced.
