Twenty-two-year-old Filipino-Belgian Roxanne Baeyens will be the Philippine representative in the upcoming Miss Tourism Culture Universe 2019 pageant in Myanmar, after winning the top crown of the Face of Tourism Philippines 2019 pageant at the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Complex last Sunday, April 7.

Roxanne bagged numerous of the major awards during the pageant proper as she represented Baguio City, including ‘Face of Wellness,’ ‘Face of Elegance,’ and ‘Face of Festivity.’ She was crowned alongside runners-up Face of Eco-Tourism 2019 Aubrey Neis and Face of Cultural Heritage Camilla Ricarto.

For the final Q&A portion, Roxanne was asked why she believes she should be the next Face of Tourism Philippines 2019, which she answered, “As a tourism graduate, I’ve learned one important thing. The best way to find yourself is to lose in the service of others. If I were to gain the crown tonight, I will encourage others to be like me not only to help the environment, contribute to the economy of the Philippines but teach them even with the small act of goodness, it could lead to something big; that’s what makes a winner and that’s the life I want to lead. God is happy if He will give us a gift. But God would be happier if we would be the answer to somebody else’s prayer.”

The Miss Silka 2018 first runner-up and Miss Mandaluyong 2019 fourth runner-up expresses her gratitude on social media immediately after being crowned, captioned, “God’s timing is perfect.”

According to Roanne Refrea, national director of Miss and Mister Tourism and Culture Universe contests, “The Face of Tourism Philippines beauty search aims to bring the beauty, excitement, and wonder of the Philippines to a wider audience by putting focus on the Philippine Tourism Industry and all its allied services and aspects. Its main vision is to create a platform that will involve young Filipinas in the task of creating a positive image for the Philippines and becoming an Ambassador for Philippine Tourism.”
