The Centro Escolar University (CEU) Scorpions are truly on a roll as they continue being on top of the 2019 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Developmental League (D-League) Foundation Group, dominating the CD14 Designs-Trinity University of Asia, 93-69, last Monday, April 8 at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

It was the import from Senegal who led the way for the Scorpions at 27 points, 18 rebounds, and four blocks; being a huge part of the 31-15 lead that began the consistency throughout the game. Off the bench, Jan Formento chipped 17 points, while Judel Fuentes and Pierce Chan also both had 13 points. CEU got their biggest lead in the last six minutes of the game at 30 points.

For the White Stallions, it was John Tayongtong and teammate Gab Reyes who powered through with 11 points each, but the lack of contribution from other teammates caused them to remain winless with a 0-5 win-loss record.

CEU head coach Derrick Pumaren shared his thoughts on their win after the game, explaining, “Coming into this ballgame, I was not worried about Trinity. I was worried about my team because [CD14 Designs-Trinity was] winless and my team might just take them for granted,” adding, “That’s what I’ve been harping on them, they’re 0-4 and if they’re gonna get their first win, they have to get it on the other teams.”

The number one team will try to continue their winning streak as they face the Marinerong Pilipino Skippers next Tuesday, April 16 at the same venue in Cubao, while Trinity will continue their search for their first win on Monday, April 22 against SMDC-NU also at the JCSGO Gym.
