Days after being a Golden Jury Awardee for excellence as Millennial Multimedia Entertainer during the 50th Box Office Awards, 34-year-old Kapamilya actress/host flies to Melbourne, Australia to pay a surprise visit to her mom Carmen, who recently went through an operation.

Anne shares about the surprise on her Instagram account last Tuesday, March 26, initially posting a video where the It’s Showtime regular is holding a ‘Get Well Soon’ balloon and red roses, knocking on her mother’s door. Anne elaborates, “Surprise a success! Mama just recently got out of the hospital after a successful operation whilst I was in Canada. And as you may know, I have a crazy schedule but sometimes just some sweetness [from her] is all it takes to book a flight right away.” She also adds that sister Jasmine Curtis-Smith and brother Tom were also in Melbourne to help take care of their recovering mother, concluding in the post, “Thank you to my Showtime and ABS-CBN Family for understanding.

I’ll be back Saturday. Back to being a dutiful daughter first for me.” She even jokes, “My mom thought it was food delivery,” referring to the surprise.

In a separate post, Anne shares a selfie with her mother and two siblings captioned, “Reunited for Mama. Thank you for all your well wishes. Mom is reading your comments one by one.”

A few days prior, Anne received her 2019 Guillermo Mendoza Award at the Star Theater in Pasay City, where she shares in her speech, “People often say that a jack of all trades is a master of none but the origin of that is actually ‘a Jack of all trades is a master of none BUT oftentimes better than a master of one’. In the industry of arts and entertainment, I’d like to believe there are no boundaries at how creative and artistic you can get. Versatility can be so much fun and can bring you so much fulfillment when you continue to challenge yourself as an artist and entertainer.”
