T&T Supermarkets to Open in Landmark Community – Kensington Gardens

New store to create more than 115 jobs in East Vancouver

VANCOUVER, BC – March 15, 2019 – On March 15 at 10:00 a.m., T&T Supermarkets located at 2206 Kingsway, in Kensington Gardens opened its door to the public. This store specializes in authentic Asian food, flavours and culture.

 

The beat of Taiko lifted the curtain of the opening ceremony. Followed by the featured speeches from Vancouver City Councillor Sarah Kirby Yung, Westbank Corp. Founder Ian Gillespie, Loblaw CCO Garry Senecal, and T&T CEO Tina Lee. Tina Lee also participated in a traditional eye-painting ceremony. The stunning lion dance bought warm vibes to the cold morning. Then the ribbon cutting ceremony, including high level executives from Loblaw, Westbank Corp., T&T, and politicians. At exactly 10 AM, CEO Tina Lee bang the Chinese gong and T&T Kingsway store was officially opened.

“We know residents are looking forward to the revitalization of Kingsway and we are thrilled to be opening an Asian grocery store that offers fresh produce, meat, seafood, grocery items, ready-to-eat Asian meals and a convenient shopping experience,” says Tina Lee, CEO of T&T Supermarkets.

“After 26 years, we continue to expand our business to bring authentic Asian food and flavours to Canadians.”

 

From the moment customers walk through the door they will be taken on a flavour journey through East Asia. From the wide assortment of fresh Asian produce, live seafood in tanks, custom cakes and a variety of Chinese buns baked fresh in store every day, T&T Supermarkets has everything you need to make authentic Asian meals for your family.

 

For those that love authentic Asian cuisine but don’t have the time or want to prepare an Asian meal for themselves, there is a wide variety of ready-to-eat meals to choose from, including the popular Japanese curry beef on rice. From the self-serve hot table, noodle bar, sushi bar or the grab n’ go section that includes BBQ meats, dim sum and fresh juice there is something for everyone. Customers can take the food home or eat in the dining area of the store.

 

T&T Supermarkets is also committed to providing customers with access to quality meat, including juicy and marbled Certified Angus Beef which has been cut from Canadian Prime and AAA Beef. Customers can find a great selection of pork including products are ractopamine-free and raised without added hormones.

East Vancouver residents are invited to participate in the store opening festivities, including fun giveaways and featured item specials. The first 200 customers will get a $10 gift card. To celebrate the opening there will be a traditional dancing lion that symbolizes good luck. After the traditional lion eye-dotting ceremony, we invite customers to take photos with the lion.

 

Launched in 1993 in Vancouver, today T&T Supermarkets operates 27 stores in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.
