VPeepz, a group of Filipino dancers aged 11 to 16, has advanced to “The Duels” round of American dance competition “World of Dance,” judged by Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough, and Ne-Yo.

The group travelled from the Philippines to the United States for their bid in the television show, performing a dance routine to the song “How Low” by Ludacris wearing fireman outfits which the judges felt appropriate because the performance “was absolute fire.”

After their performance, Hough asked the group why they took the long trip to join the competition, to which one member answered saying, “I guess we just want to show the world that even though we’re all different, I can say that there’s unity in diversity … dance really brought us together.” Touched by those words, J-Lo then stated, “To hear your mission statement from your mouth, from how you feel and what you’re all about, to me, this is why I have so much hope for the future of this world.”

She adds, “These kids are 11 to 16 years old. And to hear them talking about diversity and unity and love and class, it’s beyond. I wasn’t thinking that when I was 5th grade. But now you know the state that the world is in and you guys are honestly going to change the world and make it a better place.”

Ne-Yo also chipped in a word about the group’s synchronization, exclaiming, “Super strong formations. Super clean moves. Synchronicity — ridiculous. I say it a lot, dancing with one mind, everybody moving at the same time, on the same accord, you guys got that in spades.”

As a result of their performance, the group received an overall score of 90.3, which advances them to the next round.

The third edition of “World of Dance” premiered on February 26. The overall winner of the dance contest will be taking home a grand prize of one million dollars.
