The Petron Blaze Spikers are victorious once again after dominating Generika in a three-set game last Wednesday, February 20 at the Flying V Filoil Arena in San Juan for the Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix.

American imports Stephanie Niemer and Katherine Bell once again dominated; Niemer with a game-high of 24 points off 19 spikes, three service aces, and two blocks, while Bell had 18 kills, two aces, and one block for a total of 21 points. Teammate Aiza Maizo-Pontinalls contributed as well with eight points, including 11 digs and nine excellent receptions. Setter Rhea Dimaculangan provided 28 excellent sets for the Blaze Spikers. This results in a current two wins and zero loss standing, sharing the lead with F2 Logistics.

Generika-Ayala, on the other hand, was led by Patty Ordenain, who contributed 12 points, which included 12 digs and 10 excellent receptions. Kseniya Kocyigit, Ria Meneses, and Fiola Ceballos added seven points each.

In the words of Petron head coach Shaq Delos Santos about their win, he said in Filipino, “For me, personally, I believe that the imports can show even more because they’re experienced players already, they know how to handle the crucial games and those situations,” adding, “Of course, my trust in the local players is also big because I know how they work.”

Petron will try to stay on top as they face Foton on Saturday, February 23 at the Bacoor Strike Gymnasium, while Generika-Ayala will also play on the same day, facing PLDT for the second game.
